ALFA Celebrations
Our last Celebration was at the Cotswold Community Centre on 18th March 2023 when we gave away agapanthus plants grown from seeds from the garden at Fulligrove House.
At our Christmas Carol Service at Etloe Church on Tuesday 14th December, 2021 we presented our previous Lunch Club Facilitator, David, with a Bristol Blue Glass paperweight.
Our Harvest Celebration was on Saturday 16th October, 2021, at
The theme was "Thankfulness" and our Footprints group acted the story of the 10 people suffering from leprosy whom Jesus healed - but only one returned to thank him. We tasted honey and filled lavender bags. Here is a rainbow presentation of some of the harvest from the Fulligrove House garden.
Refreshments from 3pm (tea, coffee, soft drinks plus cakes and fruit) followed at 3.30pm by an informal inclusive Christian worship time including Bible readings and songs with actions (taking part is of course optional!). Our previous celebration was on Saturday 7th March, 2020 The Theme was "Helping each other - 3 sisters planting!"

Our June event was something different! We have recently joined the Quiet Garden Movement and had a "Quiet Garden Afternoon" on 29th June - see more in our Quiet Garden section.
On Saturday 23rd March, 2019, at the Tithe Barn, High Street, Shirehampton, Bristol, BS11 0DE
the Footprints group acted out the story of Martha and Mary and we thought about "Being still"! We made laminated cards with beautiful pictures and verses from the Bible.
The Christmas Celebration on Tuesday 18th December at Etloe Church, Cossins Road, Redland, Bristol BS6 7LY
The previous celebration at the Tithe Barn was
On Saturday 14th July, 2018
The theme was "Fruit" - especially the fruit of the Holy Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We painted letters on stones to spell these out and will be putting them round the gardens at Fulligrove House. Here are a few photos.
In April the theme was "Hope". We planted sunflower seeds and thought about how God has made them so that if we water them, in good soil they will grow. It reminded us that our prayers are like watering seeds - waiting to see what God makes happen.
In November the Footprints group acted out part of the last supper - with the disciples told to approach a man carrying water who would lead them to a suitable room.
In July this was Chris as a Roman road engineer, introducing members of the Footprints group acting out Jesus washing his disciples' feet.
This photo was taken at a similar event in Yate in 2015 for a joint Celebration for Prospects groups
ALFA Christian Community is a Christian charity that seeks to value and develop skills especially with adults with learning disabilities. We run a training lunch club in Redland and hope to set up a residential community in the near future. The leaders (Chris and Lyn Morton) also help lead a mid-week Christian group (Footprints) linked with the Livability group (formerly Prospects).
